Many have asked, what are we to do as the church to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey?
First of all, pray mightily for protection, refuge, relief from the storm, the emergency responders and for the hard work yet to be done putting lives, homes, businesses and infrastructures back together again.
We can make donations to the Rio Texas Conference Disaster Fund, Advance # 2057
and/or to UMCOR, United Methodist Council on Relief fund, Advance #901670.
We will be collecting offerings at church on the next few Sundays for these funds.
At this time they are requesting NO supplies or clothes be sent.
Our trained disaster response team was on the ground yesterday beginning to help those in need and to assess the needs for the days, weeks, months and years to come.
If you have been certified as an Emergency Relief Trained helper, you can register now to assist.
If you would like to become certified, there will be training in San Antonio on Sept. 2nd from 8:30 - 4:30. Please follow this link for further information.
Thanks and God bless.
